Since childhood I have been fascinated by art and the wonders of nature. I began carving and printing with linoleum blocks back in the early seventies. My art career has followed many paths over the years moving from coloring book illustration to sign painting to pre-press graphics to motorcycle painting, but printmaking has always been a constant thread.
I have so much fun with the process of block printing because it's contrived yet surprising as each piece goes through the steps to completion.
I use multiple blocks for each image and ink some of the blocks with oil based ink and some with water based ink. To add interest and softness, I sometimes wash color form the water based elements over the print. These editions are printed with hand pressure only and are limited usually to between four and twenty handmade original prints. All the prints in these variable editions are alike, but since each block in each print is inked individually, no two prints are ever exactly the same.
